They say time flies when you're having fun, so we must be having a blast!!!
8 years later, here we are. Eight gut-wrenching and exhilarating years...
It was July 25, 2008, to be exact -- days before the market bottom fell out in the worst and biggest global financial crisis ever seen. And we survived. Not only did we survive, but we've grown. And we're growing still.
We opened our doors with a handful of people who believed in us, and thanks to all of our clients today, we're still here! Thank you, truly, from the bottom of our hearts.
It's been an honor and, so today, we want to share a bit about the state of our business, so you too can see what we've accomplished together, and where we're going.
Beginning Assets Under Management: $15 million // Number of Households: 25
Today: Assets Under Management: $62.2 million // Number of Households: 83
That's 315% growth in assets under management, or almost 20% a year in growth for the last 8 years. And we couldn't have done it without you.
We've also grown in our ability to serve in our role as your adviser, serving clients in 12 different states across the country, and most recently, someone who also spends time in Italy. So, technically, we're now global.
Your vote to invest with us has allowed us to invest in some wonderful technology and people, to continue to serve you and your legacy, for years to come.
When we look at our clientele today, we are very happy and optimistic about our future, and our ability to serve any person's needs; whether they are just getting started, or busy living the dream...
We are continuing our effort to grow today.
I am excited to share, while it's still somewhat tentative, that we think we've found another adviser to help us help you. Our goal with this hire is not to replace me as your adviser, but to provide more in-depth financial planning support for what we are doing together (that's you and us). We'll be sharing more about why we think financial planning is so important in a future post here.
We've been in discussions for about 3 months and we seem to believe in the same things: personal attention and providing thoughtful answers, doing what you say you'll do, taking responsibility as a fiduciary, keeping it as simple as possible but no simpler, providing advice that's unbiased, and paying attention to keeping your fees low.
We're actively testing him out with a few clients, starting today. Based on their feedback, we'll be sharing more, either way, at the end of this summer.
We are actively investing in the future.
Back in our lab (AKA the office), we are working with some of the latest technologies and investment strategies, not yet seen in this iteration, to empower investors even more. We hope to announce some exciting things very soon.
We are getting more social.
For those of you on Facebook (and if you're not, now would be a great time), we are now actively using Facebook at GDP Wealth.
Today, we hope you'll 'Like' us. And feel free to send us a message too, anytime.
We promise to do our best to make our sharing relevant to you, to not be boring, and be something you're happy to learn and see -- and maybe even share with your friends and family.
And -- Thank you.
Thanks to you, today we have no less than 4 different families we help support with our payroll. We're still a small business and we are so thankful for your support, it means everything. While most of our support staff remains behind the scenes, doing our administrative and legal work, they help us keep going. Without their effort, we couldn't do what we do, which is to say, help reach your goals and protect you along the way.
I also want to share my deep personal gratitude, and hopefully you'll agree, for one person who has not been behind the scenes -- Erika Saba, our director of operations and compliance. Her unwavering, tireless attention-to-detail, and hard work has been an asset to our firm and our growth, and our mutual well-being. She's truly amazing. Your gratitude means the world to us, so maybe you'll want to send her a note.
We look forward to the journey forward with you, and hope you're celebrating the milestones we've made together.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
